About Symposium

1st International scientific symposium – Managing stress at work was held on May 20th and 21st in Hotel Plaza in Ljubljana. The @life Symposium offered an irreplaceable opportunity to introduce topics associated with stress in the work environment from different areas – Psychology, Medicine, Sports and Nutrition, as well as a discussion about trends and challenges for the future.

More than 200 participants attended lectures about trends and challenges for the future that were given by 20 foreign and domestic experts, out of which 6 were from the Mayo Clinic. Among the most renowned names were definitely: Donald Hensrud, co-author of Mayo Clinic Health Weight Pyramid and chair of the Division of Preventive, Occupational and Aerospace Medicine, John Eisenach, also from Mayo Clinic, who has been researching stress at work for the past 10 years in a set of numerous remarkable projects supported by the United States Government, Matthew Clark, leading expert from the field of Psychology at Mayo Clinic, Amine Issa, companion of numerous known expeditions to Mount Everest, and John P. Abenstein, president of the American Society of Anesthesiologists

Other experts in the field of researching and managing stress were lecturers Paul Jiménez, professor of Psychology and president of the section for Work and Organizational Psychology in the Department of Psychology, University of Graz in Austria, Markus Raab from the Psychology Institute in Köln, Tiziano Agostini, from the University Trieste and renowned domestic experts such as: Matej Tušak, Alojz Ihan, Metoda Dodič-Fikfak, Tanja Urdih Lazar, Eva Stergar, Aleš Živkovič, Vojko Strojnik and others.

Examples of good practice were also included. The symposium concluded with the introduction of the “Corporate @life” project.
